Fire Department Car Seat Program

Updated: 11 hours ago
Miami Township Fire & EMS is reminding families about the importance of using the appropriate car or booster seat for every trip. The department provides information to help parents comply with Ohio’s Child Passenger Safety Law and protect young passengers.
Under Ohio law, children under age 4 or under 40 pounds must ride in an approved child safety seat. Children under age 8, unless they are at least 4 feet, 9 inches tall, must use a booster seat. Children ages 8 to 15 must use a booster seat or seat belt, depending on their size.
The guidance also covers rear-facing, forward-facing and booster seats, emphasizing that children should remain properly restrained as they grow.
Every seat. Every ride. Buckle up. Families needing assistance can contact Miami Township Fire & EMS to schedule a car-seat safety check or learn more about community programs at publicrelations@miamitownship.org.
